Position Overview:
The position is responsible for maintaining clean and orderly facilities for students, faculty, staff and visitors. This position responds to customer requests and building emergencies as well as providing organizational and operational support.
This is an essential position that will be called upon in the event of an emergency and/or university closure.
Duties may include:
- Perform basic cleaning, sanitization and trash collection in and around residences halls and university buildings
- Answer radio calls and emails
- Set up for and support events and respond to other customer requests
- Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies
- Notify building occupants of cleaning and floor maintenance schedules
- Maintain clean and clear walkways, ensuring they are free of debris, litter, snow and ice
- Respond to emergencies and assist other departments when needed to ensure optimum service
- Ensure that assigned rooms and buildings are opened and locked as scheduled
- Assist with training new employees
- Other duties as assigned
Required Experience:
- Performing cleaning tasks
- Working in a team-oriented environment
Required Education:
- None
Required Other:
- Possess a valid drivers license and be able to meet policy requirements for driving university-owned vehicles
- Be at least 18 years of age
Additional Preferred:
- Experience operating industrial high-speed cleaning equipment; performing minor maintenance on custodial equipment; and explaining the use and maintenance of custodial equipment
- Expressed interest in learning and acquiring skills related to custodial services
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
Must be able to:
- Climb ladders, bend and stoop
- Carry, lift or otherwise move items weighing up to 50 pounds
- Stand and walk continuously throughout the workday
- Work in inclement weather conditions
