Posting Context Statement:
The Department of Plant Sciences seeks candidates for a Research Associate II. The primary responsibilities include overseeing and managing research activities in the greenhouse and laboratory, with a focus on controlled environment studies. The successful candidate will assist in the day-to-day research activities, planning and conducting experiments, data collection and analysis, and providing summaries of the research and supervise junior research personnel. The position is based in Moscow.
Position Overview:
Perform research activities and analysis, implements, evaluates and recommends adjustments to research procedures. Responsible for synthesizing and independently preparing results for publication. Works under general supervision with significant degree of creativity and latitude. Coordinate research operations and the daily activities of junior research personnel.
Duties may include
- Participate in planning and/or designing of major scientific projects, studies, or applications
- Plan and conduct research and analysis of scientific data
- Prepare graphic and narrative reports
- Interpret test results and comparing with determined standards and limits
- Perform site inspections and field oversight if field work is required
- Plan, design, develop, monitor and/or evaluate a distinct portion of a scientific project, study or application
- Research, design, implement, standardize, and evaluate new procedures
- Maintain detailed records of results and prepares written reports acceptable to the Principal Investigator and funding agencies
- Other duties as assigned
Required Experience:
- Two years of research experience beyond receipt of Masters Degree related to the domain of this position
Required Education:
- Masters Degree in plant science or biological science
Required Other:
- Must possess a valid drivers license and be able to meet policy requirements for driving university-owned vehicles
Additional Preferred:
- Experience in planning, experimental design and conducting research, and statistically analyzing data
- Skill in interpreting test results and preparing reports
- Oversight of greenhouse/micropropagation experiments, some conducted simultaneously
- Experienced introducing new procedures and delivering scientific presentations.
- Co-authoring peer-reviewed manuscripts and working in research teams
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
- Ability to lift, carry, and/or otherwise move objects weighing 50 pounds
