Posting Context Statement:
Dr. Ningjian Liangs Food Chemistry lab at the University of Idaho focuses on the extraction, structural characterization, and functional properties of milk proteins and peptides. Our primary research goal is to understand their impact on human health. Our current projects involve developing and optimizing methods for isolating milk proteins and characterizing their structure. We are particularly interested in exploring the functional properties of these proteins using mammalian cell line models.

Position Overview:
The Food Chemistry Lab in the Department of Animal, Veterinary, and Food Science at the University of Idaho is seeking a post-doctoral scholar to support interdisciplinary research on protein structure and function. The position involves work in protein purification and structure characterization.

Terms of employment are for one year, with a possibility of renewal.

Required Experience:
  • Research and publication experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Protein extraction and purification from food sources
    • Structure determination of biomolecules by NMR, Mass Spectroscopy, Dynamic Light Scattering, etc.
    • Engineering and expressing recombinant proteins using various hosts (E. coli, yeast, mammalian cells), purifying and characterizing the engineered proteins using a range of biophysical and biochemical techniques
    • Mammalian cell culture, immunofluorescence staining, and bioinformatics (OMICs)

Required Education:
  • Ph.D. degree in Food Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biophysics or a degree closely related to the domain of the position
