Salary Schedule: Placement on the adjunct faculty salary schedule is based upon education and credited experience. Pending any course assignment, initial placement can range as follows: Lab Course (Salary Schedule HB) - $89.20 up to $130.94 per hour. Lecture Course (Salary Schedule AJ) - $103.85 up to $151.07.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach courses in the Emergency Medical Care Department; develop and evaluate curricula appropriate to the different learning needs of students as well as develop student and program learning outcomes.
- Create a learning environment that promotes and stimulates learning for every student.
- Use and stay abreast of appropriate emerging teaching techniques and technologies.
- Consult with students during regularly scheduled office hours.
- Serve as a member of department, division, college, and district committees.
- Perform other professional duties as required by contract or divisional and institutional needs.
- Collaborate with groups on and off campus on projects that support Emergency Medical Care.
Employment Standards (acquired through education, training, and/or experience)
Knowledge of:
- Knowledge of law, ethics, and current regulations as applied to the emergency medical field
Skills and Abilities:
- Successful work and teaching experience in emergency medical care, paramedic, or related fields
- Commitment to and proficiency in creating curricula and methods of delivery that reflect the highest industry standards and practices
- The ability to motivate students from a broad spectrum of academic, socioeconomic, ethnic, neurodivergent, and LGBTQIA+ backgrounds
- Assist with the maintenance and organization of lab equipment to support program growth, enhance student success, and ensure that supplies are accurately ordered, tracked, and readily available for instructional needs
- Assist in accurate student record documentation and program accreditation/compliance reporting
- Experience in computer applications and emerging technologies for emergency medical technicians
- Experience or familiarity with student and program learning outcomes development and assessment for emergency medical care courses
- Assist with college-wide and department activities to assess and improve student learning
- Experience working and collaborating with outside medical agencies and ambulatory organizations
- Understanding of and commitment to the role and purpose of the community college, including the mission and values of the College
- The ability to use teaching methods that emphasize cooperation and collaboration and engage students actively in their studies, encouraging them to become critical thinkers and independent learners who demonstrate cultural sensitivity and understanding of interdisciplinary approaches
- An understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socioeconomic, ethnic, neurodivergent, and LGBTQIA+ backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff
Preferred Qualifications
- Paramedic License
- Availability to teach a full day
Job Requirements:
- Possession of any bachelor's degree or higher and two years of professional experience OR any associate degree and six years of professional experience OR the equivalent (see below). The professional experience required must be directly related to the faculty member's teaching assignment
- Valid California ID/Driver's License (or the ability to obtain one)
- Imagetrend Account as required by the County (or the ability to obtain one)
- A valid Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT-Basic) License
- Completion of the NAEMSE Level 1 Instructor Course by start date
- Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to, and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, ethnic, neurodivergent, and LGBTQIA+ backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice both within and outside of the classroom.

a) Degree Equivalence
The employee or applicant possesses a degree(s) with similar content to those listed for the relevant discipline. The name of the degree is close to that specified on the Disciplines List but the degree either has a different title or area of expertise or the coursework is slightly different. Equivalence is established through analysis of transcripts and coursework.
b) Academic Background Equivalence
Related to disciplines in which a Master's degree is not generally expected or available. The employee or applicant must have completed at least 24 semester units (or equivalent) of coursework in the academic field being applied for, and must possess at least the equivalent level of achievement and the equivalent in breadth, depth of understanding, and rigor in each of the following:
i. a broad cultural education usually met by the general education requirements for any Bachelor's or Associate's degree, and
ii. a detailed study of the discipline in breadth, depth, and rigor, usually met by coursework required for the degree major.
c) Professional Achievement Equivalence
The employee or applicant must have completed the general education requirements for any Bachelor's or Associate's degree, and show evidence of outstanding professional achievement and/or substantial training in the requested field. The employee or applicant must submit substantial evidence, which demonstrates that their preparation, teaching experience, work experience, and ability are equivalent to those expected from a person who meets the minimum qualifications.
