The Department of Psychology and Communication at the University of Idaho seeks applications for one open-rank tenure-track or tenured faculty position in Psychology, with an anticipated start date of August 2027. Tenure may be granted at the time of hire based on qualifications and subject to university approval. The start date is negotiable to accommodate needs related to completing or transferring active research projects.

Candidates applying at the Assistant Professor rank must have a record of accomplishment consistent with advancement to Associate Professor, including an established externally funded program of research. Candidates at the Associate Professor or Professor rank must demonstrate a sustained record of research productivity, external funding, and scholarly impact commensurate with rank.

The successful candidate will have an established, active, productive, and impactful research program supported by significant external funding and will be expected to sustain and expand that program through continued pursuit of major federal funding, including from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Psychology, mentor graduate and undergraduate students, and contribute service and outreach to the department, college, university, profession, and broader community.

The position will contribute substantially to research and graduate training in the Experimental Psychology Ph.D. program and may also support the master's program in Human Factors Psychology. We seek a colleague who will contribute to the continued development and growth of graduate education and research within the department. Teaching load is negotiable based upon current research experience and productivity. The department offers a doctoral program in Experimental Psychology, broadly conceived, as well as in-person and online master's programs in Human Factors Psychology. The University of Idaho is a land-grant institution classified as an R1 Doctoral University. The university is in Moscow, Idaho, approximately eight miles from Washington State University in Pullman, Washington, providing opportunities for research collaboration across two major research universities.

We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in health psychology, nutrition, addictions, or other areas addressing the psychological, behavioral, or social determinants of health. Research programs should be positioned for continued success in securing major federal funding and may either complement existing departmental strengths or expand the department's research portfolio through new areas of expertise. Candidates must also be able to contribute to courses serving undergraduate Psychology majors.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Psychology or a closely related discipline by the appointment start date and a demonstrated record of research productivity and success securing significant external research funding, including current or recent funding from NIH. Candidates should demonstrate the capacity to sustain and expand a nationally competitive, externally funded research program.
