Position Summary:
The negotiable rank Clinical Professor in Construction Management will bring expertise at the intersection of construction management and the built environment, with the ability to connect business principles to project delivery, operations, and industry practice. This faculty member will demonstrate the capacity to contribute to an innovative, interdisciplinary program by integrating knowledge of construction processes, cost management, and organizational dynamics, and by supporting high-quality learning experiences across both traditional and online environments.

As a key contributor in a newly established position, this faculty member will play a central role in the development, launch, and delivery of a new Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Construction Management and the Built Environment. This interdisciplinary program is a collaborative effort among the College of Art & Architecture, the College of Engineering, and the College of Business & Economics.

The faculty member will support recruitment efforts for the new major and actively advise prospective and current students interested in the Construction Management and the Built Environment, major demonstrating a strong commitment to student success and program growth. Active involvement in outreach and extension activities to foster connections with professional organizations and the business community is expected.

Rank will be determined based on how the candidate meets criteria articulated in the unit and college bylaws. This positions academic home will be the Department of Business.

Contingency Description:
This appointment is contingent on funding and/or work to support the position. Employee acknowledges and agrees that in the event of insufficient funding and/or work, as determined by University in its sole discretion, University may: (1) change this Agreement by adjusting the employees FTE and annual salary throughout the contract year; or (2) terminate this Agreement and employees employment prior to the end of the term of appointment, upon 60 days written notice or such lesser amount of notice as the funding or sponsoring agency had to give to the University before decreasing or terminating funding for the employees position. Employee further acknowledges and agrees that in the event termination for insufficient funding becomes necessary, the notice provisions of Faculty Staff Handbook 3900B will not apply.

Minimum Education/Degree Required:
Listed degree qualification is required at time of application.
Required Qualifications:
  • An earned Masters degree from a regionally accredited institution in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a closely related field.
  • Experience developing and/or teaching courses in the area of construction management and the built environment.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Relevant professional experience in the United States construction industry or comparable international experience.
  • Professional registration, licensing or the ability to become licensed, or certifications related to the construction discipline.
  • An earned Doctorate in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with collaborating internal and external personnel and entities ensure a successful launch of the major.
