Posting Context Statement:
The Assistant Football Coach (Defensive Coordinator) is responsible for assisting the head coach with all facets of conducting a successful NCAA intercollegiate program. The position must comply with all NCAA, conference, and university rules and regulations and must display professional integrity. Duties include on-the-field coaching during practices and games: recruiting of top-quality student-athletes; team travel, conditioning, academics, promotional and public relations activities; summer collegiate camps; and other duties as assigned by the head coach.

Position Overview:
The Assistant Football Coach-Defensive Coordinator is responsible for assisting the head coach with all facets of conducting a successful NCAA intercollegiate program. The position must comply with all NCAA, conference, and university rules and regulations and must display professional integrity.

Duties include:
  • On-the-field coaching during practices and games
  • Recruiting of top-quality student-athletes
  • Team travel, conditioning, academics, promotional and public relations activities
  • Summer collegiate camps
  • Other duties as assigned by the head coach

Required Experience:
  • Experience with NCAA policies and procedures
  • Intercollegiate coaching experience


Required Education:
  • Bachelors degree

Required Other:
  • Valid drivers license and ability to meet requirements for driving university vehicles
  • Ability to travel

Additional Preferred:
  • Masters degree
  • Exhibited organizational skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to comply with NCAA and conference rules and regulations
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment to accomplish shared goals
  • Coaching philosophy that aligns with the programs established strategies and standards
  • Supports and monitors student-athletes academic and athletic development in alignment with NCAA requirements.
  • Experience recruiting national caliber student-athletes
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with student-athletes, staff, faculty, and external partners

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
  • Ability to lift, carry and/or otherwise move objects weighing up to 25 pounds
