Position Overview:
This position manages the administration of externally sponsored projects such as grants and contracts at the college, program or unit level, ensuring compliance with university policies, sponsor requirements and applicable regulations. The successful candidate will play a key role in facilitating successful initiatives within the unit or area. This position will work with the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) to review and process all assigned agreements, modifications and requests for sponsor prior approval, with a focus on moderate- to high-risk project types.

Duties may include:
  • Collect, analyze, interpret and document required information from sponsored project agreements and amendments
  • Collaborate with faculty, researchers and/or staff to develop, review and submit sponsored project proposals
  • Monitor project budgets, expenditures and financial reports to ensure compliance with sponsor and university guidelines
  • Work closely with Principal Investigators (PI) to address any sponsored project-related issues
  • Facilitate the timely and accurate closeout of sponsored projects, including final financial reports and equipment inventory
  • Provide guidance and training to faculty and staff sponsored project policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Experience:
  • Three years performing administrative or office support functions
  • Composing, proofing and editing a variety of business documents, using proper grammar and punctuation as demonstrated in application materials
  • Using computer software and applications for word processing, spreadsheets, email and internet research
  • Interpreting, explaining and applying laws, regulations and policies, including university, federal, state and/or sponsor regulations
  • Independently managing projects that involve multiple stakeholders

Required Education:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Additional Preferred:
  • Bachelors Degree
  • Certified Research Administrator or Certified Financial Research Administrator
  • Three years of experience in a sponsored programs-related support position either pre- or post-award, doing work related to compliance with the regulatory principles that govern sponsored funding, preferably at an institution of higher education, non-profit or federal entity
  • Experience serving as a liaison between internal and external entities and individuals to coordinate activities and resolve issues
  • Experience with pre- or post-award sponsored projects from multiple sponsoring agencies or multiple agreement types (such as National Science Foundation and National Institutes of Health and a subaward or contract)
  • Experience working in a customer service-oriented environment to accomplish shared goals
  • Experience using finance or human resource modules in the Banner information system
  • Experience applying multiple regulatory policies to advance a decision or process
  • Knowledge of or experience with 2 CFR part 200
