Posting Context Statement:
Reporting to the Senior Director of Information Technology, this position works closely with technical peers, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure that systems are secure, scalable and aligned with Foundation priorities. This includes maintaining Foundation Microsoft Entra and M365 tenant and service configurations, administering IAM services and supporting enterprise applications such as CRM Advance, Fundriver Balance, Gravyty, Stripe, Microsoft Fabric and others through configuration, troubleshooting, and lifecycle planning.
This position plays a key role in sustaining reliable operations while also contributing to longer-term architectural improvements and security posture.

Position Overview:
This position supports the University of Idaho Foundations enterprise systems and identity infrastructure, with responsibilities spanning application administration, tenant governance and identity and access management (IAM). The role serves as both a technical lead and operational administrator, balancing design and strategy with the practical oversight of key systems and integrations.

This position plays a key role in sustaining reliable operations while also contributing to longer-term architectural improvements and security posture.

Duties may include:
  • Designing and implementing identity, access and tenant governance systems
  • Administering Microsoft 365 and Azure Services, including Entra ID
  • Supporting enterprise application lifecycle planning and integrations
  • Coordinating infrastructure, compliance and support with efforts with internal stakeholders and vendors
  • Supporting audits, reporting and incident response procedures
  • Leading or contributing to IT projects involving migrations, upgrades, or architectural refinement
  • Creating and maintaining technical documentation, standard procedures and user support resources
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Experience:
  • Eight years of experience in one or more of these technical areas:
    • Identity and access management
    • Enterprise systems administration
    • System implementation
    • System integration
    • Application security
  • Demonstrated expertise with Microsoft identity and cloud technologies (Active Directory, Entra, Microsoft 365, and Azure Services)
  • Familiarity with system and data integration standards such as REST, SOAP, and ETL processes
  • Proven track record leading or supporting IT projects involving system transitions, upgrades, or complex integrations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Required Education:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Required Other:
  • Ability to work non-standard hours in response to system incidents, upgrades, or scheduled maintenance

Additional Preferred:
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or related field
  • Experience supporting technology in higher education or nonprofit environments
  • Familiarity with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server) and modern data infrastructure (e.g., data lakes, data warehouses)
  • Experience with project management methodologies and tools (e.g., Agile, Azure DevOps)
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code and automation frameworks (e.g., Terraform, ARM templates, CloudFormation)
  • University of Idaho work experience

Industry certifications that demonstrate current expertise, such as:
  • Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator
  • Azure Solutions Architect
  • CompTIA Security+
  • CISSP
