The Position:
We are looking for an Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Anti-Racism (IDEA) HR Representative to cultivate a supportive and inclusive work environment for all our employees. The HR Representative will assist in crafting equitable District policies, developing, implementing, and assessing inclusion programs, IDEA training and applying objective hiring procedures. This position will train District employees to apply diversity and inclusion best practices in support of the District's strategic initiatives and to provide equal opportunities to all candidates and employees regardless of their protected characteristics. The position will also be assisting with Human Resources special projects as needed.

This position requires an individual who is especially detail-oriented and has strong organizational skills. It requires an individual who is skilled at developing and implementing contemporary programs. The selected candidate should be comfortable with collaborating with staff, faculty, and students from across the three campuses. The HR Representative should be passionate about building and sustaining an inclusive and equitable working and learning environment for all students, staff, and faculty.


Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties below are representative of the duties of the classification and are not intended to cover all of the duties performed by the incumbent(s) of any particular position. 1. Collaborates with a wide variety of institutional groups (e.g. campus leaders, faculty, staff, students, internal and external constituencies, etc.) for the purpose of setting and implementing priorities and plans to support the Districts efforts towards employee IDEA and engagement

2. Coordinates development and implementation of a variety of projects and related activities for the purpose of ensuring implementation of projects and activities, compliance with all regulations and policies and efficient operation

3. Assists with coordinating IDEA programming, including bi-annual Museum of Tolerance experience for District employees

4. Conducts annual surveys to gauge employee engagement and feelings of inclusion

5. Develops a wide variety of documents and presentation materials, independently and through delegation to other personnel (e.g. plans, proposals, policies, budgets, progress reports, correspondence procedures, forms, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring program management

6. Assists with the maintenance of services and the implementation of new programs and/or processes (e.g. strategic direction for training initiatives to increase awareness and support of IDEA values, strategic campus-wide IDEA goals, institutional IDEA framework, etc.) for the purpose of providing services to the campus community

7. Participates as a member or facilitator in meetings, workshops, and seminars to obtain and provide current procedural and policy information

8. Provides support on planning related to Faculty and Staff IDEA Hiring Workshops

9. Assists with training and outreach programs related to Equal Employment Opportunity and IDEA for faculty, staff and students

10. Attends conferences, training and participates on committees as needed

11. Makes presentations to small and large groups to provide training and orientation on IDEA policy and procedure

12. Assists with Human Resources special projects as needed

13. Performs other related duties as assigned
Please note that the requirements of the position could change depending on the needs of the office. The employee could be assigned to other areas of Human Resources, including recruitment, applicant services, employment, orientation, compensation, staff development, retiree services, or a variety of other functions.

Minimum Qualifications:
A combination of education and experience equivalent to an Associates or Bachelors degree in social justice, ethnic studies, higher education, sociology, social anthropology, cultural history, labor studies, international studies, law, urban communities, human resources or a closely related area or relevant work experience and training

Commitment to and demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff


Physical Requirements:
This classification requires manual dexterity; visual comparison; reaching, lifting/pulling/pushing up to 30 pounds, stooping and bending; and the ability to drive a motor vehicle to off-site locations to perform the essential functions.

6. Demonstrated ability to achieve outcomes

7. Skill in oral communication, including public speaking

8. Skill in written communication

9. Skill in the use of a database and a variety of computer software to enter and track data and to compose, format, and prepare correspondence, reports, spreadsheets and presentations

10. Skill in multi-tasking to complete various workloads accurately and by required deadlines

11. Skill in setting up and in maintaining complex, confidential employee and other electronic and manual file systems

12. Skill in working discreetly with confidential and sensitive information and records

13. Ability to work effectively as part of a customer service team


Preferred Qualifications:
Successful experience in building IDEA programs in higher education is preferred

Project management and experience within a Human Resources environment is preferred

Experience collaborating with cross-functional groups such as IT and Finance is preferred


Benefits:
Benefits include paid holidays, vacation and sick leave. The District pays all or a portion of monthly medical plan premiums (depending on the coverage) and pays all of the monthly dental and vision plan premiums for employees and eligible dependents. Additional paid benefits include life insurance, salary continuance insurance, and an Employee Assistance Program. Classified employees participate in the Public Employees Retirement System, a defined-benefit retirement plan through the State of California.
